Research

Chen's research is inspired by his belief that, there should be a "personal dimension to one's own research," and his research focuses on LGBTQ issues and health, as well as the educational and career pursuits of legal and undocumented immigrant students and their families, and the minority stress model. Chen is known for his research project titled, "Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA Dreamers" which is an ongoing study that examines how the experiences of undocumented immigrant college students perceive themselves, their interpersonal and family relationships, educational and career options and identities.
